Woman’s body recovered in search at waterfall beauty spot

Several police and emergency vehicles were at the Falls of Falloch car park. The body of a woman was recovered after a major search at this popular waterfall beauty spot near Loch Lomond, following reports she was in difficulty in the water around 22:45 on Friday.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) deployed water rescue units from Oban and Stirling to the 30ft (9m) waterfall. Police Scotland confirmed the woman’s body was found at about 11:45 Saturday morning, stating her death was not suspicious.

A force spokesperson said:

"Emergency services attended and water searches were carried out. Her death is being treated as unexplained, but there are no apparent suspicious circumstances. Her next of kin have been made aware."

The Falls of Falloch, near Crianlarich, is a popular spot for hikes and picnics during the summer months. In 2021, emergency services rescued eleven people from the water after they got into difficulty.

Police closed the nearby car park during the search and urged visitors to avoid the area. The site was temporarily closed at the end of March this year due to a rise in visitor numbers.
